Volunteer with Uniting
Uniting social support programs provide opportunities for older people to enjoy social interaction in the comfort of their own homes or within their local community.
So, if you don't have an 'Old Mate of your own', volunteering with Uniting is a great alternative. Volunteers support people to participate in activities that interest them, heading out for a coffee or a meal, or enjoy a visit at home, etc. NB:Although #OLDMATE's partnership is in partnership with Uniting Victoria, Uniting have a national presence and we encourage you to find one nearest to you.
Uniting also arrange group outings in the local community, such as going to the movies , concerts, or conversations over lunch.
The programs aim to support people to “Get back to the things they love”. The Telelink program, which connects people for a group telephone conversation on topics of interest, such as current affairs, trivia, etc.
Uniting provides a range of other social support programs for older people that enhance social connections, independence and wellbeing.
